Academic Policies & Regulations

Institutional regulations, student guidelines, and academic policies.

1. Student Code of Conduct

  1. Students shall maintain discipline, professionalism, and respect towards faculty, staff, patients, visitors, and fellow students at all times.
  2. Any activity that disrupts the academic, administrative, or operational functioning of the Institute is strictly prohibited.
  3. Violence, harassment, bullying, threats, abusive language, or misconduct of any kind will not be tolerated.
  4. Unauthorized gatherings, demonstrations, fundraising activities, or events within the Institute premises are prohibited without prior approval from the administration.
  5. Students shall be responsible for the proper use of Institute property. Any damage to buildings, laboratories, classrooms, library resources, equipment, or furniture may result in disciplinary action and financial liability.
  6. Students suffering from any communicable disease must immediately inform the Institute administration and seek appropriate medical advice.
  7. Students are expected to attend all academic, laboratory, and clinical activities regularly and punctually.
  8. Students absent for three consecutive working days without prior intimation or valid justification may be subject to disciplinary review.
  9. Mobile phones and electronic devices are prohibited during lectures, examinations, laboratory sessions, and clinical placements unless specifically permitted for educational purposes.
  10. Students must display professional behavior both inside and outside the Institute and during all affiliated clinical placements.
  11. The Institute reserves the right to issue warnings, suspend privileges, or take disciplinary action in cases of misconduct.

2. Attendance Policy

  1. Students must maintain the minimum attendance percentage prescribed by SZABMU, PNC, and Institute regulations.
  2. Attendance in theory classes, laboratory sessions, and clinical training is mandatory.
  3. Students who fail to meet the required attendance criteria may not be eligible to appear in examinations or clinical assessments.
  4. Leave applications must be submitted through the prescribed procedure and supported by valid documentation where required.

3. Uniform & Dress Code Policy

General Requirements

  1. Students must wear the prescribed Institute uniform during academic and clinical hours.
  2. The official Student ID Card is an essential part of the uniform and must be displayed at all times.
  3. Uniforms must be clean, properly maintained, and worn in a professional manner.
  4. Students must maintain personal hygiene, including neat hair, trimmed nails, and polished footwear.
  5. Excessive cosmetics, jewelry, and inappropriate accessories are not permitted.
  6. Casual clothing, jeans, shorts, slippers, and non-approved attire are prohibited during Institute and clinical hours.

4. Clinical Training Guidelines

  1. Students must strictly follow all hospital and clinical regulations during training.
  2. Patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality must always be maintained.
  3. Clinical records and documentation must be completed accurately and honestly.
  4. Students must follow infection prevention and control measures at all times.
  5. Students may not leave assigned clinical areas without permission from the supervisor or instructor.
  6. Professional communication with patients, attendants, nurses, doctors, and healthcare staff is mandatory.

5. Examination & Assessment Policy

  1. Examination and assessment procedures shall be conducted in accordance with SZABMU regulations.
  2. Students must maintain academic honesty and integrity in all examinations and assessments.
  3. Cheating, plagiarism, proxy attendance, falsification of records, or examination misconduct may result in disciplinary action.
  4. Internal assessment, practical examination, viva voce, and theory examinations shall be conducted according to University and Institute regulations.
  5. Students must independently pass all required theory and practical/clinical components as prescribed by SZABMU.

6. Discipline & Disciplinary Procedures

Violations of Institute policies may result in one or more of the following actions:

  • Verbal Warning
  • Written Warning
  • Counseling
  • Temporary Suspension
  • Clinical Restriction
  • Referral to the Disciplinary Committee
  • Rustication or Expulsion (in cases of serious misconduct)

The severity of disciplinary action shall depend upon the nature and seriousness of the violation.

7. Laboratory & Learning Facilities

PHR Institute provides modern educational and clinical learning facilities, including:

  • Nursing Skills Laboratory
  • Simulation Laboratory (SIM Lab)
  • Human Patient Simulation Laboratory
  • Anatomy & Physiology Laboratory
  • Health Assessment Laboratory
  • Maternal & Child Health Laboratory
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing Laboratory
  • Computer & E-Learning Laboratory
  • Research & Multimedia Learning Laboratory

8. Clinical Training Affiliations

Students receive supervised clinical training through affiliated healthcare institutions, including:

  • Farooq Teaching Hospital, Islamabad
  • Adil Medical Center
  • Other approved teaching hospitals and healthcare facilities as designated by the Institute and University.

9. Compliance Statement

All students are required to comply with the Academic Policies & Regulations of PHR Institute of Health Sciences, as well as the rules and requirements prescribed by SZABMU, relevant regulatory bodies, and affiliated clinical institutions. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action in accordance with Institute policies.
